The Silent Spectators

One thing that struck me deeply during these testing times is the unveiling of some of the silent spectators among us. Over the past week, as events have unfolded, we as a nation and as individuals, have come to see more clearly who truly stands with us, and who does not. It raises a critical question: Who can we truly call a Pakistani?

Is speaking out only reserved for personal gain, fame, or social media followers? Will voices ever rise purely out of love for the country? Sadly, many seem more invested in protecting their careers, friendships, or public image than in standing up for their country – for what is right.

Many who often claim to champion human rights – celebrities, influencers, and even everyday citizens – chose silence when their voice was needed most. And that silence says more than words ever could.

When it comes to your country and your people, everything else should come second. Ironically, when controversies or internal issues arise, these same individuals suddenly become vocal advocates “for justice.” But where are their voices when the nation is openly targeted by enemies?

What are they afraid of? Losing followers? Their so-called foreign friends? Jobs or reputations?

A country is like your mother, can you imagine abandoning her when she’s in distress? Or will you rise to become her shield?

A thought to ponder.
